Description

Sticky buns are a delightful treat with soft, pillowy dough, a rich cinnamon-sugar filling, and a sticky caramel glaze. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert, these bakery-style sticky buns are easy to make at home and customizable with your favorite toppings.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 egg

For the Filling:

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup melted butter

For the Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Dough: Combine warm milk and yeast in a bowl. Let it sit until frothy. Mix in sugar, butter, salt, egg, and flour until a dough forms. Knead for 8–10 minutes, then let it rise for 1–2 hours.
  • Roll and Fill: Roll out the dough into a rectangle. Spread melted butter over the surface and sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mixture. Roll the dough tightly and cut into 12 pieces.
  • Make the Glaze: In a saucepan, melt butter, brown sugar, and heavy cream until smooth. Pour the glaze into a baking dish and add pecans if desired.
  • Assemble and Bake: Place the buns on top of the glaze. Let them rise for another 30 minutes, then bake at 350°F for 25–30 minutes.
  • Serve: Invert the baking dish onto a plate to coat the buns with glaze. Serve warm.

Notes

  • You can make the dough a day ahead and refrigerate overnight for convenience.
  • For extra stickiness, add a drizzle of honey to the glaze.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
