Description
Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, these salmon patties are a comforting, budget-friendly meal perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 can (14.75 oz) canned salmon, drained; skin and bones optional
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs or cracker crumbs
- 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped (optional)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2–3 tbsp oil for frying
Instructions
- Drain the canned salmon and remove skin and bones if desired. Mash it with a fork until flaky.
- Add the egg, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until well combined.
- Scoop a handful of the mixture and shape into a round patty about 2-3 inches wide. Repeat until all mixture is used, forming 6-8 patties.
- Chill the patties in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes to help them hold their shape.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Carefully place the patties in the pan, cooking for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
- Transfer the patties to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
Notes
For best results, avoid overcrowding the pan and consider adding fresh herbs for additional flavor.
