- 4½ cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1½ cups Warm Water (110-115°F)
- 1 packet Instant Dry Yeast
- 2 tablespoons Light Brown Sugar
- 2½ teaspoons Kosher Salt
- ⅔ cup Baking Soda
- Melted Butter (for brushing)
- Kosher Salt (for sprinkling)
Instructions
- Combine warm water, yeast, and brown sugar; let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour and salt; mix and knead until smooth (about 5-7 minutes).
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 30-60 minutes until doubled in size.
- Prepare a baking soda bath with water and baking soda; bring to a boil.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F.
- Divide dough into 8 pieces, then cut each into 1-inch pieces.
- Boil each piece in the baking soda bath for 30 seconds, then place on a baking sheet.
- Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with kosher salt.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
Optional toppings include cinnamon sugar, cheese, or everything bagel seasoning. Dipping sauces such as mustard or cheese sauce can enhance flavors.
